In today’s competition environment which is changing very fast, organizations need to renew their services, products and communication technics, change and replace their working methods with new ones continuously to benefit more from time and sources. Therefore, automatic object identification and tracking systems, data gathering, management and analysis technologies were always needed by companies or organizations to develop applications, plan and manage working processes. One of the technologies which underlies innovations and requirements is RFID. In this paper, RFID technology, usage of which has increased in rather important levels, its basic system components and operation structure will be introduced; the advantages of RFID in information systems and data management technologies will be mentioned. Later on, the paper will give informations about the advantages and benefits of RFID technologies over today’s automatic object identification, data gathering and management technologies. In conclusion part, the paper will propose suggestions about usage of RFID within the scope of data gathering and system management.
